ByHymnPages stands on the work of many. This page credits the sources, creators, and open projects behind it.

Hymn texts

The hymn texts featured in this app are classic Christian hymns, the majority of which are in the public domain (authors such as Fanny J. Crosby, Isaac Watts, Charles Wesley, and contemporaries).

Text verification and reference research is supported by Hymnary.org, an extensive public hymnody database operated by Calvin University.

Modern-language hymn texts remain the property of their respective copyright holders where applicable.

Translations

Hymn translations and language-specific verse variants are the work of their original translators and hymnal publishers, reproduced here for devotional and educational use.

Original linguistic enrichment produced for this project (transliterations, literal and contextual explanations) is part of the ByHymnPages data work.

Piano samples (instrumental playback)

Instrumental hymn playback uses the Salamander Grand Piano samples by Alexander Holm, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.

The sampled instrument is a Yamaha C5 grand piano. We are grateful for the extraordinary generosity of this project.

MIDI renderings of hymn melodies are prepared for this project and paired with verified hymn sources.

Video media

Movies and Audio Bible videos are embedded from YouTube and remain the property of their creators and channels.

Audio Bible content is sourced from the GoodNews of Gospel of Jesus Christ channel and associated publishers; all rights remain with them.

Playback happens through the official YouTube embed player, which tracks views and honors creators.
